About

Simply put, our mission is to help you, “Change Your Life With Us.” After spending time in our facility and with our team we want our members to walk out of our doors after a workout and feel like they are a better version of themselves.

It’s the people that count

It isn’t the scientific sum of calories, workouts, and weight that keeps our members returning. It is not the cutting-edge equipment and technology. It is the people that count.

Our staff cares about guiding and encouraging each and every member to obtain the goals they seek for themselves. Our members’ goals are specific and if we can assist in that journey to realizing their aspirations then we have truly helped them change their life.

Meet Our World Class Coaches

Owner

Curtis Marzinzik

I grew up in the SCV played basketball at Hart High School and fell in love with lifting weights at the local Golds Gym way back in 1987. I continued my love of fitness with the US Marine Corps then life/kids/career happened.. I started CrossFit in 2010 at Cross Fit SCV as a way to get back into shape and picked up my CrossFit L1 certificate around 2012. When CrossFit SCV closed its doors in 2014 I tried a few other local gyms but decided it was finally time to open my gym and with the blessing of the original owner (thanks Ben!) we continued the name of Santa Clarita Valley's original CrossFit Gym.

In 2010 I was about to turn 40 and realized I had become fat, out of shape, and unhealthy. I needed a radical change and the moment I walked through the doors at CrossFit I knew I had found the answer. It was scary and I remember trying for months to "get into shape enough to start CrossFit" which never happened. Ultimately I bit the bullet and just showed up which turned out to be the best decision of my life. It was hard but not scary, I was provided with all the tools, and all I needed to do was show up, and that's what we still tell people today!

My purpose in coaching is to help people live longer, healthier, and happier lives. I've coached everyone from people on their first day ever working out to CrossFit Games athletes and there is a common denominator to success - do the work, eat the food, get the sleep, and have no excuses. Do these things and you will live longer, healthier, and happier.

I am a Navy Spouse and mom of 2 active boys. I played basketball (PF) throughout high school and coached multiple youth leagues. I started swimming competitively as well (CIF- backstroke) and that’s when I really fell in love with competitive sports.

After gaining weight from pregnancies and dealing with health issues (Hashimoto's) I knew I had to make a change. I spent all my energy taking care of others that I put my own health on the back burner. I eventually started running with a local running group in Virginia Beach, found CrossFit and started strength training, changed my diet, and the rest is history.
My family is my biggest motivation! I want to be the healthiest and happiest version of myself and be a role model for my kids. I love coaching and encouraging others to prove the doubt in their mind wrong. If you can think about it, you can achieve it. Put in the work, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and make it happen.

If you’d told me six years ago that I’d be a CrossFit coach training for my first marathon, I would’ve laughed. Growing up, I was somewhat of a lazy kid, and I honestly hated excerting myself, especially running. I’ll admit — I was very hesitant to try CrossFit. It seemed intimidating and way too intense. But after my first week, I realized how wrong I was, and was absolutely hooked. It was the first time fitness actually felt fun for me, sparking a passion that’s only grown. I fell in love with the variety, the endless opportunities to improve, and the new skills I get to learn.

As a coach, I’m dedicated to helping others discover this same love of fitness, guiding them to reach goals they never thought possible—all while having a blast. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to level up, I’m here to support you on your journey and make every class something to look forward to. Let's make fitness fun and fulfilling together!

I started my CrossFit journey in 2016 while working as a K9 officer in law enforcement. When I retired from my career I had both knee and shoulder injuries. I continued my CrossFit journey scaling most of the movements. Over time with medical treatments, physical therapy, and better movement patterns my injuries healed and I became stronger. This journey made me a believer in the CrossFit methodology.

Coach

Nick Clack

I started CrossFit in 2011 and started coaching in 2015.
CrossFit is more than just a place to work out. It is a lifestyle change. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people with the same goals is what made CrossFit what it is today and being able to teach that to others is the reason why I coach.

Anthony Copeland

In 2018, my wife introduced me to CrossFit, transforming my perspective on fitness after years of running and bodyweight training in the Navy. Initially intimidated, I discovered a supportive community filled with encouragement, laughter, and challenges that built both physical and mental resilience. This experience inspired me to earn my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, driven by a passion to share the same empowering energy. Growing up, I played baseball and football , learning discipline and teamwork. As a coach, I’ve helped athletes of all levels achieve personal bests, from first pull-ups to marathon completions. My greatest highlight is fostering a welcoming gym environment where everyone, regardless of skill, feels empowered to conquer challenges. I’m dedicated to guiding others to discover their strength and resilience through CrossFit.

Reclaiming My Health and Becoming a Role Model At 200 pounds, I hit a turning point when I realized I was too slow to keep up with my kids and faced mounting health issues from years of neglect. The enemy was my own self-doubt and the habit of prioritizing everyone else—relying on fast food and a hectic schedule as excuses. As a Navy veteran, I preached activity to my children but wasn’t living it, which felt hypocritical and defeating. This moment forced me to confront who I was and what I was capable of, pushing me to join CrossFit in 2018, introduced by my wife. The intense workouts and supportive community helped me shed weight, regain energy, and build mental resilience. Earning my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, I transformed into a coach who leads by example, inspiring others to overcome their own self-doubt and prioritize their health. Now, I create a welcoming gym where everyone can conquer their challenges, just as I did, proving to my kids and myself that we are capable of more than we think.

My purpose as a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer is to empower individuals who feel held back by self-doubt or unhealthy habits to discover their strength and resilience through fitness. I’m impassioned to serve everyday people parents, professionals, beginners who, like me, once struggled to prioritize their health while juggling life’s demands. I’m motivated by my own transformation from a 200-pound, out-of-shape Navy veteran who couldn’t keep up with his kids to a confident coach who leads by example. I coach to create a supportive community where anyone, regardless of skill level, can walk into our CrossFit gym and feel inspired to conquer their challenges. If you’re ready to overcome excuses and transform your life, I’m the coach to guide you with encouragement, accountability, and relentless belief in your potential.

Coach

Alex

Like most guys, Alex joined a CrossFit gym because of a girl. Thankfully, it worked out, and he married her. Alex is a former D2 offensive lineman and lifelong athlete, getting his start hurling shot puts and throwing down blocks before turning his focus to the world of CrossFit. He’s coached high school football and track in Santa Clarita, and now coaches CrossFit, Masters, and Kids classes at CrossFit SCV — meaning he can get your grandma moving better and teach your toddler how to squat.

With years of coaching experience, Alex is passionate about helping athletes of all ages build confidence and strength.

How much can you bench? Not as much as Alex.

Coach

Melissa

CrossFit is what first sparked my love for fitness. I didn’t grow up naturally athletic, but finding CrossFit gave me a drive to stay active. I more recently started coaching and teaching which is my source of healing and growing as a person. Guiding others gave me confidence, purpose, and joy — and it’s where I found myself again.

I’m always on the move and love staying active, and anything is possible when you keep showing up.

I’m a CrossFit Level 1 Coach and also a Lagree Instructor, and proud mom of two teenage boys. Some of my favorite movements are deadlifts and pistols.
